I’m going to go a bit personal here for this post.

Most of you don’t know. But one of the most wonderful thing that is happening to me this year is my marriage on Oct 10. 14 days left before the big day and I’m proud to have taken a wonderful engagement journey with my fiancée and we are praying for an even happier and blessed married life.

A large part of what pushes me in life to move forward and strive to reach my potential and work for my dreams is this relationship that I have. It gives live, color, meaning, and reason to be. And I’d like to share with you one of the most wonderful principles I have learned in life.

Your relationships are the most important thing in life! Both to God and the people you love and who love you.

It’s not your job, not your business, not your possessions, not your wealth, its your relationships. That’s the one thing that can carry you thru the difficult moments in your life. I believe that part of our success is being able to establish great relationships in our lives.

So I just simply want to say to my fiancée, THANK YOU, For the great 1.5 year engagement. And looking forward to a wonderful married life.

And to you my reader, friend, I pray for your family and relationships too. I hope they grow stronger and lovelier by the day. God bless!

Be free!
Charlie Aquino

Perhaps because I have spent most of my life in an academic environment. I love it for many different reasons and on top of the list is the word “HOPE”.

GRADUATION = HOPE

That’s how I see it. But I’m guessing not everybody does.

But for most people or fresh graduates, graduation is a milestone, it’s like telling to the world “I’m ready to face you”. It’s liberation day. It’s a new chapter in life. It’s filled with joy. It’s getting ready to create your future. It’s about being hopeful for what lies ahead.

Unfortunately that feeling is short-lived!

The first few months is exciting, you may have even taken a one or two month break. Then you head on out to the world and start looking for a job and then you begin to wake up to one stark reality that they never told you in school.

It’s not easy to find a job… a job that fits your course… a job where you can apply your skills… a job that pays well… or just simply a job!

And with all the other fresh graduates like you competing for the same positions you begin to wonder how you could ever land your dream job. And this is when you begin to settle for any job as long as it pays.

You come in on your first day excited, hopeful, telling yourself “I will do great here”. You receive you first paycheck, you look at it, and your jaw drops as you see that line there that say withholding tax! And you realize how much the government takes so much away from the hardwork that you put and they will do that for the rest of your working life.

You look again at your take-home pay and you look at your dream and begin to wonder, how could you ever reach your dream?

And now begins, one of the biggest mistakes many people do in their working life. They change their dream!

It might not happen immediately, some take years, but for many people it does happen. They hop from one job to another only to realize that the situation they are in is no different, and they begin to settle, and they change their dream!

And you know what changing your dream means? It’s giving up your HOPE!

And many people in the working environment have lost this precious thing they held on to during their graduation.

Are you in this situation now? Let me help you get out of it!

But first you have to dig deep down in your heart about what it is that you hope for right now. What is your dream?

Let this commencement speech given by Steve Jobs in 2005 at Stanford University help you rekindle that fire if hope you once lost.

Just a few hours ago as I was driving from Makati to Ortigas with the usual EDSA traffic :), I got the opportunity to listen to an audio book by Brian Tracy entitled The 21 Secrets of Self Made Millionaires.

I got this audio book a few months ago and I thought I’d listen to it with the hopes of being able to pick-up something I could share with you. And boy I got more than I was expecting.

I might share the whole thing with you because it was really so good. Even though there were some parts I did not totally agree on but nonetheless its worth your time listening and learning.

Secret 1 is so simple yet many people really forget about it. It made me realize why so many people don’t really achieve the financial freedom they want in their life. And secret 1 is…

Dream Big Dreams!

I know, simple huh? :)

But do you know that most people give up on a dream simply because they do not want to face the discomfort or the uncertainty of facing it?

Or some simply think that’s its too far off for them to achieve that they just literally give it up and settle for second best.

I’m sad when I hear that. Because there is something about a dream that is so unique and so powerful. It is you!

Your dream is you!

To give-up on a dream is to give-up on yourself.

Self-made millionaires hanged on to their dream even if they thought it was impossible to achieve. Even if they failed several times they kept pushing because their dreams were so clear and it drove them to achieve.

Our dreams give us our passion, and remember nothing is achieved well without passion.

So if you find yourself giving up on your dream. Don’t! Keep it alive, keep it burning. Talk about it all the time, share it to friends, write it down, share it here.

Dream Big Dreams! That is what self made millionaires do. It’s time we start dreaming too.

Let’s get out of our box and catch that dream shall we?

God bless!

Charlie
